John Giles is the managing attorney at Michalsons in South Africa. He focuses on ICT and data protection, including privacy, data protection, and the protection of personal information (POPIA); cybersecurity and cybercrime; ICT law; the legal aspects of IT governance, risk and compliance (IT GRC); and marketing law.
Mr. Giles helps organizations understand the impact of privacy and data protection laws on their organizations. He assists them in implementing practical and effective privacy compliance programs. He has presented at many major conferences and runs workshops on the topic. Mr. Giles is currently spending most of his time helping large organizations to comply with complex global data protection laws (like the GDPR, PECR, and POPIA) in a practical way.
